Time to pack!
I have been really busy getting all of the donations ready to go. We have 46 two gallon bags for the children at the orphanage! They turned out great! They are full of fun as well as practical things. They are a lot bigger and heavier than I had thought they would be. It looks like we will be able to fit them all into three big boxes Ray bought yesterday. We also have about sixty baby blankets that I have been washing as well as the infant outfits (pants, shirts, socks and hats) Ray and I bought. It is a lot of stuff! I want to get it all packed up tonight so we can start working on packing for ourselves and the baby. Ray thinks we should bring one medium to small suitcase each. I don't think he realizes how much stuff of our own we need to bring. I plan on bringing two big suitcases with my things and the baby's things as well as all the meds, diapers and gifts for the orphanage staff. I usually underpack, but I really don't want to do that on this trip.
We are planning on getting there a couple of days early. We hope to be able to catch up on sleep so we are ready to take care of our baby as soon as we get her. We are not sure whether it will be the 18th or 19th. We also plan on doing some shopping for the orphanage before we go. We asked several of our friends for donations and people were very generous. We want to buy things like diapers, formula, balls, and the Harry Potter Series (in Vietnamese for the older chidren) and whatever else we find.
We were supposed to travel tonight and have our G & R on the 10th or 11th. Some things changed and they pushed us back. Luckily for us, we only had to wait a week. That didn't stop me from crying on Saturday when I found out we were leaving later. Bad day. We have found out that we are traveling with some great families though and are excited about the trip. We will leave a week from today.
I am posting some pictures of the bags for the older children and other things we are bringing.
